Fake It Till You Make It No More: How a Boston Based Music Duo is Changing Our Ideas of Authenticity

Updated: May 27, 2022

"We [Alyjah + Link] look to keep integrity in our portrayal of reality. We want to make music that changes someone's life even if it’s just for a moment."

Alyjah + Link, the Boston, Mass based music duo, is looking to change the way you see the music industry. All too often do we gaze at our phones and TV screens and wonder if the celebrities we're gazing at show even a semblance of who they are off camera. Being in the industry often means keeping up an attractive persona. One that audiences and fans will find amiable and even hope to replicate in themselves. With Alyjah + Link, you won't have to wonder.

The duo originally met through Craig's list. Both early in their career and looking for a partner to round out their sound. The two became fast friends and quickly realized the caliber of their sound was nothing short of spectacular.

The message behind their music lends itself to inherent authenticity. They want to portray themselves as people and encourage others to do the same.

This "Fake it Till You Make it" mentality has radiated out of the media scene and injected itself into the lives and minds of viewers everywhere. One look at any social media platform and it's easy to see that the images we put forth to one another are caricatures of only our best selves. "We [Alyjah + Link] look to keep integrity in our portrayal of reality. We want to make music that changes someone's life even if it’s just for a moment."

The embodiment of their message finds itself in their debut single "Fucked Up Summer." The song was written by lead singer and songwriter, Alyjah Adams, in the midst of quarantine. The heartbreak anthem saw it's finishing touches just as another "Fucked Up Summer" came to a close. This unveiling will be the duo's first contribution to the music scene. Alyjah + Link have also teamed up with LA based artists collective "No Love Out West'' for this release, slated for an October 1st release.
